James Wooldridge

Specialism: Health and Safety - Legal Compliance - Liability claims defence - Motor fleet risk management and occupational road risk

 

James has 25 years of health and safety and risk management experience including 10 years experience as an enforcement officer having trained as an Environmental Health Officer and then training again to become one of HM Inspectors of Health and Safety. This experience gave him a good knowledge of how to comply with health and safety legislation in the retail, distribution, manufacturing and agriculture sectors. It also gave him significant experience of the construction sector as he held the role of HM Inspector of Health and Safety for construction in Oxfordshire.

The following 10 years was spent in a leading Lloyds insurance syndicate. Specifically, many risk management programmes have been devised and implemented by James to help a range of organisations in varied sectors reduce the cost of their liability claims.

In particular, James has worked with many retail, distribution and manufacturing businesses and a range of construction clients including Morgan Est, Sir Robert McAlpine, Laing O’Rourke, Bowmer & Kirkland, Morgan Sindall, PC Harrington and Barhale. James also ran risk management programmes for Welsh Water Asset Management Programme 4 and the CTRL Joint Venture initiatives.

Over recent years James has run a successful consultancy business that has focused on assisting a wide range of businesses comply with health and safety requirements and reduce their liability and motor fleet insurance costs.

Phil Durrant MBA C.Eng FIChemE

Specialism: Explosive Atmospheres

 

Phil is a chemical engineering consultant with 34 years experience including 25 years experience of working with situations involving explosive atmospheres.

Phil provides pragmatic and cost effective advice to businesses to enable them to take practical steps to comply with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR). Past DSEAR risk assessments and ATEX studies have been undertaken at facilities as diverse as a local authority heating plant, paint spraying in aircraft hangers, bulk petrochemical storage and anaerobic digestion facilities.

Phil has also assisted in mitigating the risk of dust explosion in the pharmaceutical and distilleries sectors.

Jonathan Grainger

Specialism: Health and Safety Legal Compliance – Developing Health and Safety Management Systems – Health and Safety Training

 

Jon trained as one of HM Inspectors of Health and Safety and worked for the Health and Safety Executive for a number of years in Yorkshire and Lancashire. During this time he developed a pragmatic and sensible approach to health and safety management and worked in a number of sectors including:

  • Manufacturing – Engineering, Plastics, Woodworking, Paper, Logistics, Waste management, Foundries, Textiles and Food Manufacturing.
  • Housing Associations
  • Facilities Management
  • Independent schools
  • NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers

Jon joined City of York Council and managed the health and safety team with responsibility for ensuring appropriate standards of health and safety in:

  • Nursing Care Homes and Residential Homes
  • Education – primary, secondary and FE.
  • Leisure facilities
  • Grounds and highways maintenance

Jon has considerable experience in health and safety management systems, inspections and audit, accident investigations and has worked with both the Police and HM Coroner on fatal accident investigations.
